Superdrag - “Filthy and Afraid (Stealth Mix D)”
Most people probably know Knoxville, Tennessee’s Superdrag from their mid-90s hit, “Sucked Out”; that’s certainly where I first heard about them. Although they fell a bit off the radar after that, Superdrag continued to make great power-pop, and as far as I’m concerned, in the land of power-pop, Superdrag is king. Along with their catchy three-chord hooks, lead singer John Davis’s gruff, scratchy vocals have always been a distinguishing feature of this band. Those who remember “Sucked Out” know exactly what I’m talking about.
After their break-up in 2003, Superdrag finally got back together in 2007, toured for most of 2008, and have an album planned for 2009 called Industry Giants. “Filthy and Afraid” is the first track released from the upcoming album, and shows Superdrag picking up almost exactly where they left off.
And for those of you interested in a little mid-90s nostalgia, here’s the video of 1996’s “Sucked Out”. Ah, the 90s…
This one goes out to my friend Casey who told me “If your life had a face I’d update it.”

The thing is, it sounds exactly like if Nine Inch Nails were a bunch of enormous industrial-rockin’ snails.
Another excellent pick form Matthew Perpetua.

The most scandalous thing about this inappropriately-shaped Hannah Montana concert candy is her suggestive pose on the packaging. It beats the hell out of those Vanity Fair photos.[Ad Rants]”
